How to Generate Business By Giving Away Your eBooks Creatively

An eBook can be used for much more than just a standalone product that you are selling. Over the course of this article I’m going to show you ways to give away your eBooks that will end up making you more money in the long run then if you just sold it.

How do you make money by giving away your eBook?

Simple

You can use it as a viral marketing tool. It provides you an opportunity to give something to other people to increase the number of visitors coming to your website.

By providing an eBook to other people and giving it away for free, it creates a viral marketing mechanism that brings you business. It can be used as a great viral marketing tool.

Secondly, giving away your eBook can help generate leads to increase the number of people on your list or improve your database. Use the free eBook as an incentive for people to sign up for your list or provide you information for your database.

Today people are often overwhelmed with the amount of email they get on a daily basis and are now less likely to just give away their name and email address. People have grown to be very protective of their personal information, particularly who and where we are giving away our name and email address.

So you have got to go above and beyond now in order to win that person over so that they want to give you their name. They want to give you their E-mail address in order to get whatever it is that you’re willing to give them. An E-book that has tremendous value can be a great incentive in order to do that.

To go along with that strategy, here is another tip. When people are collecting email addresses and names, often they will have a section on their main website where people can submit that information. Once they have submitted the information many people give the download for their free eBook on the next page.

Even though you are getting an email address and name, often times people will give you bogus information, with an email that won’t lead anywhere. They get your eBook however, but you don’t receive what you were looking for.

I don’t like to do that. I’m a straight up, honest business man, very transparent. I want you to respect me the same way that I respect you.

Instead of providing them with the download right away, I send them to a thank you page that basically just says, “Thank you. The information for where you can download the free eBook has been sent directly to the email address you provided.”

The reason for that is now those people who gave me an honest email, an honest name, will get the reward. It will be sent to them instantly through an auto responder, which will provide a link for where they can go and download it.

This is really something you might want to think about because if your goal is to build up your list or database and half of the emails and names are bogus then it is useless. As a business owner you want to protect your database and make sure it is valid, so you really want to try to keep false information out.

Let me move on. Another way you can use an eBook and why it’s so important is you can use the eBook to conduct research by asking people to perhaps fill out a survey and then use the eBook as a reward for filling out the survey.

The best way to create new products or services is to ask your market their opinion. A man who has taught me so much to do with marketing, is one of my mentors, Alex Mandossian. He is known for the Ask Methodology – asking your market what they want to learn, need or are looking for.

A quick example. Alex does all kinds of high-level teleseminars with some of the biggest names in business. Particularly, he’s done them with Brian Tracy, Vic Conant of Nightingale Conant, he’s done them with Harv Eker, Mark Victor Hansen, Bob Allen. You can name it. He’s done teleseminars with the who’s who in business.

Actually, I know that he is working on teleseminars with Bill Clinton, Steve Jobs of Apple and Lance Armstrong to name a few.

For every teleseminar, he goes through the same steps to ensure the people paying for the call are satisfied. Alex gets them to submit their burning questions for the expert so he has a pile of material when he goes to do the call that evening.

He doesn’t have to create any of the criteria. He finds out exactly what they’re wanting to know, and then he asks those questions.

It is as easy as that. You can use this strategy. By providing an eBook at the end of the survey it will entice people to complete it and in return you will gain some really great market research.

I’m sure you’ve even been there. You’ve been asked to complete a survey, but don’t get anything for doing it. Today, most people won’t give up time unless they see value in what they are doing. Your eBook will be that value at the end of the survey.

Plus having that research can really help you promote, create and deliver your products. This will lead to you generating even more business.

You can now see there are many different way to give away something creatively to generate more business in the future. Put your thinking caps on and ask yourself what might be other ways this is possible.
