Concrete Polishing Introduction
ByConcrete Polishing is the newest technology available to beautify a concrete slab. In concrete polishing, a drab piece of slab is transformed to a fabulous work of art. Polished concrete is also called a no-wax floor surface because of its natural luster and shine. The process of polishing a concrete floor involves several grinding process. This grinding process uses several discs that remove rough concrete surface.
Almost all commercially available concretes are good candidates for concrete polishing. A newly placed concrete should be left to settle for 28 days prior to polishing. The surface of the concrete needs to be well prepared by removing dirt, dust and stains prior to concrete polishing. Concretes that are too porous may not be good candidates for concrete polishing. This problem may be solved as some floor contractors put concrete hardeners that ultimately fill in the gaps on porous concrete, leaving a hardened surface.
Polished concrete is very economical as there is no need for frequent waxing since the concrete has a natural shine and gloss that can be easily maintained through regular application of commercially available polishing conditioners. It is also very easy to clean because a simple mopping or wiping of a damp cloth can easily clean the polished concrete surface.
Polished concrete is widely used and preferred in manufacturing plants and residential areas. These areas are high to human traffic and carry heavy machineries so a polished concrete floor is the best choice. Concrete Polishing is very economical electricity wise as the lights tend to bounce back from the sheen of the concrete floor.
Polished concrete is not only advisable on these areas but it can also be seen on buildings, hospitals, churches, schools, hotels, institutions, etc. The benefits that one can get from a polished concrete floor make it an excellent choice for everyone.
