Why Utilize a Broadband Connection
Posted by: | CommentsWith the World Wide Web becoming such a big service nowadays to small-time companies, you ought to benefit from the broadband service to get your company name out there. Not only are you giving your business the opportunity to experience a big boost financially, but you are also giving your business to become a recognized brand.
Utilizing a dial-up service is fine, but if you really want a big break, then avail of a broadband service to make it possible.
Using Phone and Internet Lines Simultaneously
With a dial-up service, you should not use your phone line to make a call while you are using the net, but with a broadband connection, you can use both at the same time.
If you are surfing the Internet and are making use of the dial-up, then you might miss an important call because the person on the other line will get a busy tone since the voice and data lines are passing through a single avenue. With a broadband, you no longer have to miss these significant calls because the phone and data lines are separated.
Multiple Computers on One Line
Another reason why businesses are utilizing the broadband service is that they get to save money because all their computers can hook into a single broadband line. Setting it up is also very simple.
With a dial-up, however, every computer must have its own telephone line and dial-up connection so as to connect to the Internet. Again, this is far more expensive, especially if you have a small company, and a time-consuming effort when setting it up.
Higher Speed and Increased Dependability
Naturally, as a business proprietor, you would want to be able to connect to the Internet quickly. With a broadband connection, you have this advantage because your Internet service is always on. The instant you switch on your PC, you are automatically connected to the Internet and can start using it right away.
Furthermore, you no longer have to fear that your Internet will always get interrupted because your broadband is using a digital connection, unlike the dial-up which depends on a pulse rate, thus, the tendency of the dial-up to continuously get disconnected.
With a dial-up, also, you must wait for the server to hook you up to the Internet, and if the server continues to decline the attempts to connect, then you are losing so much time and money.
Finally, a broadband connection provides more speed than a dial-up.
Broadband internet is a lot less expensive today than it used to be. Just go to the website Bredbaand to see exactly how cheap broadband internet can be.
Getting Started With PHP Web Development
Posted by: | CommentsThere are a few important tips that can be used and you may not be aware of when starting to use PHP web development. PHP is a type of programming or scripting language used to create web pages and web applications. The full name of PHP is hypertext preprocessor. PHP tends to generally run on servers that use Linux code, which is pretty much all of them.
Because PHP is a Linux based code it can be easier to develop the PHP web page on a Linux operating system. While this is not essential it can be easier. The main problems that arise when using a Windows based code on a Linux because Linux is case sensitive and Windows is not. Many times your application may not work properly when you put it on the web server.
If your code and links should use different case letters then any of the links will not work. However if you develop the application on Linux then all of your links and code will work and you won’t have to spend extra time changing the links in order to get the page to work. This step is easily avoidable and can make your PHP develop much faster at the beginning.
It can also save you a lot of time by using CVS or SVN. These programs will save the many different versions of your application or web pages so that you can access them if needed. For web development this is important as you will make changes that need to be erased.
Instead of having to undo the code you can go back to an earlier saved version. Many times SVN is used when more than one person is working on a web site.
There are many helpful tips you can use when starting to use PHP web development. This is an older style of development but still very effective.

Top Sites For Product Reviews From Consumers And Experts
Posted by: | CommentsProduct reviews typically tend to be more effective when grouped together. This is generally why you, the consumer, often want to consult with multiple sources and individual perspectives in order to make an informed decision before you proceed to checkout. So, just to make things a little easier for you, we’ve put together a brief list of places on the Web you might like to go to stock up on opinions about a myriad of products, from gadgets to vehicles to attire to the miscellaneous, before laying down your hard earned cash.
Epinions.com: Perhaps the most abundant catalogue of product reviews on the Internet, Epinions, a Shopping.com property, is a mega site of pretty much everything under the sun that pertains to human lifestyles of all sorts. Indeed, its supply of notes about electronics is vast, but it is also holds its fair share of opinions on travel, restaurants, and food and drink. Suffice it to say that its variety is as much a strength as is the sheer volume of information it manages today.
CNet.com : If electronics are your focus, CNET carries some merit among review sites. The in-house review staff at CNET regularly put out text and video reviews of gadgets built for business and personal use, and user input helps to complete the picture. CNET was purchased by CBS not too long ago, and some are expecting the adoptive parent to focus more on the TV-style projects being produced at the technology site, but for the time being, CNET is still a decent choice for aggregate opinion.
Amazon.com: Amazon is a retail giant, for sure, but its product reviews are a massive resource in and of themselves. Some items will show pages of feedback, while others will show less or maybe none at all. But taken as a whole, Amazon is a destination as valuable for its convenient shopping mechanisms as for its consumer commentary.
DealsGlobe.com: Another excellent product search and review engine. DealsGlobe.com allows to find Hot Deals or Coupons easily and also reviews and ratings on the products, coupons, sales. If you are looking to find both deals, coupons and also ratings or reviews, then this is the right place for you.
ConsumerSearch: A bit more rough-cut, but supported by Web-based heavyweights (About.com, NYTCo), ConsumerSearch is touted as a reviewer of reviews. While not the prettiest player in the market but the quantity of information found on its servers is quite large. If you’re willing to forgive its bland interface, you might find it a resource worth visiting and revisiting once in a while.
ConsumerReports: This one’s an oldie for sure, but still relevant. Some might pass it off as a review source too focused on detailed research and less about connecting consumers with the broadest product list possible, but ConsumerReports has been trusted by a large number of readers for many years and continues to play a very active role in the field. If nothing else, it’s one more place to go to achieve that well-rounded view you’re seeking.
Sazze.com : Its home page highlights a select number of products, and beneath the cover there are thousands more. There’s a good chance you’ll find what you’re looking for here, and each page is laid out intelligently, so it’s all very easy to browse.
Reevoo.com : Reevoo launched last summer, and in that time it has built itself a bit of an international name with the debut of a French adjunct in March of this year. Simple enough to use, with a database fronted by five main categories – ‘Phones & Computing,’ ‘Entertainment,’ ‘Photography,’ ‘Home & DIY,’ and ‘Toys & Baby’ – Reevoo has quite a lot of reviews and ratings beneath the hood. Take a look, we say. You might like it.
Retrevo.com: Not to be confused with the option above, Retrevo is sort of a hybrid of reviews and general product information (product manuals, etc.). The site is completely intuitive, and while its presentation of data might not be everyone’s favorite cup of tea, its gets the job done.
Buzzillions.com: You might like it for its name alone, Buzzillions, but past the title, it’s actually a good piece of kit. It has a wide reach across the product realm, and everything is pleasantly wrapped. It is for sure one of the better places to visit among sites listed here.
Omgili: Omgili covers more than just product reviews. Or, as it describes them, “consumer experiences.” But part of the puzzle has to do with stuff you buy, so what they hey, it gets the final spot here. Enter a search term, and you’ll get back a search page with product results along with ratings bars that manage five degrees of buyer approval/disapproval, from “excellent” to “miserable.” Omgili pulls reviews from about seven independent sources, including Amazon, PriceGrabber, NewEgg, Target, Yahoo Shopping, CNET and Edmunds.
Crowdstorm.com: Another product search and review engine that presents itself as infused with expertise, Crowdstorm is low on material on its front page, which might be a touch disappointing for some visitors, but its method of delivering information is rather interesting. You can browse for products manually, or ask for “expert” advice on stuff you seek to buy. Crowdstorm operates sites for both US- and UK-based audiences.
PEbuzz: PEbuzz is one part social network and one part gadget review joint. We offered a few thoughts on the site some weeks back, and while it could definitely use a nicer, more modern exterior, it may well be what you are after. For what it’s worth, PEbuzz is free to join.
Digital Photography Review: Photo enthusiast are you? Look no further than Digital Photography Review. Covering everything from the latest industry news to detailed – and we mean detailed – product reviews and comparisons, DPR is the place you want to go for anything to do with digital imagery.
RateItAll.com: RateItAll has some decent offerings. It likes to tout lists having to do with anything deemed culturally or consumeristically (not part of the official lexicon, but we’ll go with it all the same) significant by the populace. Will this serve you well? That depends. If you’ve read this far, it’s safe to assume you are privy to lists. And RateItAll is right down that alley. The site also offers applications for Facebook and MySpace users.

Spyware Blockers – You’re Not Safe Without One
Posted by: | CommentsWhat are Spyware Blockers? Or more to the point what is Spyware?
Spyware programs run on your computer without your knowledge. These programs have been secretly downloaded onto your pc.
These evil spyware programs record all your information anything from logins and passwords to bank details and credit card numbers.
These programs running in the background of your computer, known as key logger, spyware, backdoor and other malicious software are collectively known as “malware” .
These Spyware programs or other malicious threats typically present themselves as constant pop-ups, unknown toolbars and system tray icons.
To stop these programs from wrecking your life and computer you need Spyware Blockers.
The problem with most spyware blockers is that they are really only spyware removers. They don’t stop spyware getting put on your computer in the first place.
So, if you have one of these programs it will at the outset remove any spyware it finds on your computer. But then you must set up time schedules for most spyware blockers to run again.
However, with some Spyware Blockers you actually get a spyware blocker! Once it removes the spyware in your computer it will stand front line and never let it back in with it’s built in real time guard. The other problem with most other spyware blockers is that they don’t have Rootkit Stoppers.
Rootkits are programs that are designed to defeat and stop your spyware blocker from doing it’s job.
Rootkit detection software is the only thing that is resistant to a rootkit, and you need to make sure your spyware blocker, antivirus program, or firewall software has rootkit detection.
So to summarise, you need a Spyware Blocker that has built in Real Time Guard and Rootkit Prevention.
So, get back your pc and install a spyware blocker. You will rid your pc of those annoying pop-ups and ads and also defend yourself from having your details stolen. There are literally thousands of Spyware Blockers out there. For independent reviews visit my website below.

.NU Domain Name TLD What A Cyber-Price For A National Identity?
Posted by: | CommentsThe tiny Polynesian island nation of Niue is beginning to think it’s been had. Honestly, it’s clear they didn’t do their homework before they did their contract.
Ironically, it seems the buyer hadn’t really done his, either. Anyone who has been flooded by advertisements for ‘global domains’ can easily understand that it’s a rapidly increasing business. The specter of purchasing a domain at a much better price than the more common ‘dot com’ or ‘dot net’ or ‘dot org’ is most attractive to most would-be entrepeneurs on restricted budgets. This niche’s market leader is most likely Global Domains International (GDI), which has no doubt put Western Samoa on the mental map of many a cybernaut. The key element in that deal is that the Western Samoan government granted the rights to GDI in return for a percentage for every domain sold.
Niue’s name is consequent from the local language’s phrase for, “Look, a coconut!” It seems they should have used theirs more thoroughly before signing a domain deal with Bill Semich in 1998.
An American businessman whose former station was editor for a computer magazine, Semich recognized the potential value in the marketability of rare domains. Apparently finding the ‘nu’ extension an eye-catching letter combination, he signed a contract with the Niue government that gave him the exclusive rights to it.
It wasn’t a one-way deal. Semich assured free wireless access for all 2000 of Niue’s people and he delivered, finishing the installation of an island-wide set-up of translator towers in 2003. The country’s leaders surely felt they had provided their citizenry with a service for the new century which would favorably ensconce their place in island history.
Semich, meanwhile, intended to hawk his bargain domains to Americans. He had no idea that his ideal customers were in Sweden, where ‘nu’ is the local word for ‘now.’
Apparently,’now’ is a hot advertising action term in any language, so Semich was pleasantly surprised to find the Swedes flocking to his cyber-property. As a translated example of why this works for them, ‘drive.now’ (which would be ‘köra.nu’) is a very convincing sales slogan which becomes an perfect URL for a Swedish driving school. To date, Semich has had 110,000 sales of ‘dot nu’ domains at $30 a year, which has considerably swollen the coffers of his ‘.NU Domain Ltd’ to the limit that its website’s home page default language is now — or nu — in Swedish.
In truth, Semich has cunningly taken advantage of this windfall to become the first domain provider to include a complete Unicode character set into its scripts, allowing users whose alphabets have rare characters — in Swedish, that would be the letters ‘å,’ ‘ä’ and ‘ö’ — to remain true to their language instead of settling for Anglicized versions, which often destroy their original meaning.

Unless you have just spent the last few months on another planet, it is almost inconceivable that will not at least have heard about Twitter or more likely tried it.
For those extremely unusual people that have absolutely no idea what Twitter is all about, it is simply a method of announcing short messages. In many respects it is similar to sending a text message except that you do so via your PC of laptop.
The other difference is that you need to build up a network for followers and those who you follow. These can be friends, groups of people with similar interests. You can then see any messages that they send, and they can see any messages that you send. Typically the messages are two lines.
To join in, you first need to register with Twitter and then it is a simple matter of getting started.
Some people Twitter about every day trivia, and some Twitter about things of interest.
Where the real power of Twitter has emerged is in the ability of a “Twitterer” to influence very large amounts of people and specific interest groups.
President Obama (or more specifically his campaign staff) used social networking highly successfully during his pre-election campaign to get his message to a very wide target audience.
It is now becoming a widely used tool for assisting internet marketers to make money online, and some go as far as to claim that at this moment in time it is the very cutting edge of generating free web traffic.
There can be no doubt that if you are running an internet based home business then you should be a member of Twitter and you should be building your list of followers as dynamically as you possibly can.
There are a few rules though. Twitter does not prohibit you from overtly and shamelessly advertising your product. The rule that I would suggest that you adopt is to never be tempted to do this. People like to use twitter for fun and interest. The last thing that they want is to be bombarded with advertising.
Try to learn to be a little more subtle. Build up a following using your own personal style, and every once in a while invite your following to take a look at your blog, and remember that those followers who do so, will of course automatically leave their name and email address when they post to your blog.
Once in a while, give something away on your website that all visitors have to submit their name and email address to receive. Then announce the giveaway to your followers on Twitter.
Hopefully, by now you can see that there is a great deal of benefit to becoming involved with Twitter and that for an internet marketer to not get involved would be rather like saying “I really do not want a list of purchase hungry potential customers”.
Twitter is the “HOT” item of the moment, so do not waste any more time. If you are not involved, get involved, and if you are involved then make sure that you are pushing the limits.
Learn Making A Website For Profit
Posted by: | CommentsI have had a small business for some time now, but I realized that I had come to a point where I needed to expand my base. A presence on the Internet is an important part of small business today, so I decided it was high time I began researching the fine art of making a website. I started out knowing two things: First I didn’t have much money to invest in this venture; and second, I didn’t know the first thing about making a website on my own.
I decided I needed to do some research first, so I went online to gain all the knowledge I could about this process. I quickly found more than enough information about making a website, whether I decided to tackle the project myself or hire someone else to do it. I learned that there were plenty of options in this process, and I would be able to find success if I did my homework beforehand.
The first option was to hire a trained professional to do the job, and this was tempting indeed with my limited experience in the technical arena. I found that some experts in this field will charge a pretty reasonable fee for making a website, considering how much they could offer to build a really cool, attention-getting site. However, even the lowest fees were a bit steep for my budget at the time, so I decided to go it alone for the time being.
If need be, I could always hire someone to touch up my efforts later, as I’m sure their fees for that would be cheaper than making a website from scratch.
The online resources I found offered plenty of good step-by-step information for making a website, from choosing your domain name and designing your actual pages, to promoting your presence using the right content to draw prospective clients in.
Some of these were aptly referred to as tutorials, because they walked you through the entire process with language that was easy for even the least techno-savvy to understand. Yep, that’s me!
Once I got my site up and running, I found additional information on making a website that allowed me to spruce up my pages with lots of fun graphics, including my logo, buttons to view other pages, and pictures to make the entire package as pleasing to the eye as possible. I have to admit that I found the entire process really fun, and not hard to do at all.
However, I am looking forward to bringing an expert in to help me with the finer points of making a website that will give my pages that final, professional touch that will certainly allow me to put my best cyber-foot forward. Look out Internet, here I come!
Do Internet Banking With Your Finances
Posted by: | CommentsOne great thing about the Internet is that there are many financial things that can be done that make life easier for anyone who might choose to use them. Internet banking is one of my favorites, though it does make me a little uneasy about security.
However, I have never had a problem with any of the banking or financial transactions I have had to make, and I hope that is something that I never have to worry about in the future. For the most part, these are secure transactions and many have built-in fraud protection. However, anyone using online services should keep an eye on everything.
One type of Internet banking is Paypal. They are not really a bank in the traditional sense, but they can be used much like the traditional type of bank. They can allow someone to send or receive money, and they can also issue debit cards for some customers. Those who have these check cards with their own banks are eligible to have one for Internet banking with Paypal.
Though some complain about them, I have used them with no problem for quite a while and they have made life online much easier for me.I also use Internet banking with my own bank. I can check my accounts at any time, and I can also send money to some of the places where I have to pay bills. This saves me a lot of hassle and things get paid on time and I don’t have to worry about payments getting lost in the mail, or things not arriving before the due date. This type of internet banking works well for me and I think many others love it for the very same reasons.
There are still instances where I need to head off to my local bank, but this doesn’t happen very often because most of the transactions I need to do can be done at home online.
It is important to remember a few things when using Internet banking. Nothing is one hundred percent secure, so it is imperative that someone keep an eye on their account balances and to change passwords quite frequently. These passwords should be hard to remember and should not be personal in any way.
If they are, someone might be able to get in just by knowing a few things about the account holder. There are emails that go around saying that something is wrong with an Internet banking account and that someone must click the link and reenter their information. Never do this, as no bank or any other legitimate business will tell someone to do this via email. It is always a scam. If someone is worried, they should open a new browser and then type in the correct web address to see if there is a problem. Never click the link or use the address found in the email. If in doubt, picking up the phone is the best option.
Web World
Posted by: | CommentsThe World Wide Web is a system of interlinked hypertext documents accessed via the Internet. With a web browser, one can view Web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia and navigate between them using hyperlinks. Using concepts from earlier hypertext systems, the World Wide Web was invented in 1989 by the English physicist Tim Berners-Lee, now the Director of the World Wide Web Consortium, and later assisted by Robert Cailliau, a Belgian computer scientist, while both were working at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1990, they proposed building a “web of nodes” storing “hypertext pages” viewed by “browsers” on a network,[1] and released that web in December.[2]
Connected by the existing Internet, other websites were created, around the world, adding international standards for domain names and the HTML language.
Since then, Berners-Lee has played an active role in guiding the development of Web standards[eg twitter] (such as the markup languages in which Web pages are composed), and in recent years has advocated his vision of a Semantic Web. The World Wide Web enabled the spread of information over the Internet through an easy-to-use and flexible format. It thus played an important role in popularizing use of the Internet.[3] Although the two terms are sometimes conflated in popular use, World Wide Web is not synonymous with Internet.[4] The Web is an application built on top of the Internet.
In March 1989, Berners Lee wrote a proposal[5] that referenced ENQUIRE, a database and software project he had built in 1980, and described a more elaborate information management system. With help from Robert Cailliau, he published a more formal proposal (on November 12, 1990) to build a “Hypertext project” called “WorldWideWeb” (one word, also “W3″)[1] as a “web of nodes” with “hypertext documents” to store data. That data would be viewed in “hypertext pages” (webpages) by various “browsers” (line-mode or full-screen) on the computer network, using an “access protocol” connecting the “Internet and DECnet protocol worlds”.[1]
The proposal had been modeled after EBT’s (Electronic Book Technology, a spin-off from the Institute for Research in Information and Scholarship at Brown University) Dynatext SGML reader that CERN had licensed. The Dynatext system, although technically advanced (a key player in the extension of SGML ISO 8879:1986 to Hypermedia within HyTime), was considered too expensive and with an inappropriate licensing policy for general HEP (High Energy Physics) community use: a fee for each document and each time a document was changed.
A NeXT Computer was used by Berners-Lee as the world’s first Web server and also to write the first web browser, WorldWideWeb, in 1990. By Christmas 1990, Berners-Lee had built all the tools necessary for a working Web:[6] the first web browser (which was a Web editor as well), the first Web server, and the first Web pages[7] which described the project itself. On August 6, 1991, he posted a short summary of the World Wide Web project on the alt.hypertext newsgroup.[8] This date also marked the debut of the Web as a publicly available service on the Internet. The first server outside Europe was set up at SLAC in December 1991.[9] The crucial underlying concept of hypertext originated with older projects from the 1960s, such as the Hypertext Editing System (HES) at Brown University— among others Ted Nelson and Andries van Dam— Ted Nelson’s Project Xanadu and Douglas Engelbart’s oN-Line System (NLS). Both Nelson and Engelbart were in turn inspired by Vannevar Bush’s microfilm-based “memex,” which was described in the 1945 essay “As We May Think”.[citation needed]
Berners-Lee’s breakthrough was to marry hypertext to the Internet. In his book Weaving The Web, he explains that he had repeatedly suggested that a marriage between the two technologies was possible to members of both technical communities, but when no one took up his invitation, he finally tackled the project himself. In the process, he developed a system of globally unique identifiers for resources on the Web and elsewhere: the Universal Document Identifier (UDI) later known as Uniform Resource Locator (URL) and Uniform Resource Identifier (URI); and the publishing language HyperText Markup Language (HTML); and the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP).[10]
The World Wide Web had a number of differences from other hypertext systems that were then available. The Web required only unidirectional links rather than bidirectional ones. This made it possible for someone to link to another resource without action by the owner of that resource. It also significantly reduced the difficulty of implementing Web servers and browsers (in comparison to earlier systems), but in turn presented the chronic problem of link rot. Unlike[eg twitter] predecessors such as HyperCard, the World Wide Web was non-proprietary, making it possible to develop servers and clients independently and to add extensions without licensing restrictions. On April 30, 1993, CERN announced[11] that the World Wide Web would be free to anyone, with no fees due. Coming two months after the announcement that the Gopher protocol was no longer free to use, this produced a rapid shift away from Gopher and towards the Web. An early popular web browser was ViolaWWW, which was based upon HyperCard.
Scholars generally agree that a turning point for the World Wide Web began with the introduction[12] of the Mosaic web browser[13] in 1993, a graphical browser developed by a team at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (NCSA-UIUC), led by Marc Andreessen. Funding for Mosaic came from the U.S. High-Performance Computing and Communications Initiative, a funding program initiated by the High Performance Computing and Communication Act of 1991, one of several computing developments initiated by U.S. Senator Al Gore.[14] Prior to the release of Mosaic, graphics were not commonly mixed with text in Web pages, and its popularity was less than older protocols in use over the Internet, such as Gopher and Wide Area Information Servers (WAIS). Mosaic’s graphical user interface allowed the Web to become, by far, the most popular Internet protocol.
